There are Six major steps in settings up a database for a particular enterprise :

  1. Define the high level requirements of the enterprise.
  2. Define a model containing all appropriate types of data and data relationships.
  3. Define the physical level.
  4. Define a user interface to carry out the task.
  5. Create or initialize the database.
